Four people died on the spot on Wednesday morning after a Honda Fit they were travelling in collided head-on with a haulage truck at the 60-kilometre peg along Masvingo-Beitbridge Highway.

The driver of the Masvingo-bound Honda Fit lost control of his vehicle and encroached into the opposite lane, resulting in the head-on collision near Sese Business Centre.

All the four people in the Honda Fit, including the driver, died on the spot.

Bodies of the deceased were ferried to Masvingo General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

Acting Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa referred all questions to national police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi, who could not be reached for a comment.
