Four candidates have been shortlisted for public interviews to fill a vacancy on the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) following the resignation of a commissioner.

The candidates were selected from a pool of 52 nominees submitted by members of the public after Parliament invited nominations in terms of Section 237(1) of the Constitution.
According to a notice issued by Parliament of Zimbabwe, the Committee on Standing Rules and Orders (CSRO) received 52 nominations comprising 41 males and 11 females before convening to shortlist suitable candidates for consideration.

According to ZEC the four candidates are Mr Muchineripi Chinyanganya, Mr Sheuneni Kurasha, Dr Lawrence Mhandara and Mr Advent Tatenda Tavenhave.

“Public interviews will be conducted on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the New Parliament Building in Mount Hampden,” said ZEC.

The successful candidate will fill the vacancy that arose following the resignation of a ZEC commissioner. The commission is constitutionally mandated to manage and supervise elections and referendums in Zimbabwe.
