ZIMBABWE Women’s Cricket are set to hand four upcoming cricketers their senior national team debuts when the Lady Chevrons host the United States of America in One Day International Series.

The Lady Chevrons will receive the Americans for the five ODI matches beginning tomorrow at Harare Sports Club.

Captain Mary-Anne Musonda continues to be absent as he recovers from an injury.

The spotlight will, however, fall on at least four players, who are set to make Lady Chevrons bows.

Beloved Biza who has shown a lot of promise and is rated as one of the most promising players having been named the player of the tournament at the ICC Under-19 Women’s World Cup Africa Qualifier in September, leads the cast of the four players who are expected to play for the senior national team for the first time.

Biza is the youngest player in the Lady Chevrons squad.

She is joined by her fellow teammates at  Zimbabwe Under-19 level — Runyararo Pasipanodya and Olinder Chare.

Tendai Makusha has also received a first-time call-up.

Apart from the missing Musonda, the Lady Chevrons will also have to make do without all-rounder and U-19 captain Kelis Ndlovhu.

Ndlovhu will be conspicuous by her absence from the series as she focuses on her educational commitments.

Despite missing their captain Musonda and Ndlovhu, the Lady Chevrons will not be short on experience against the Americans.

They can still look up to seasoned campaigners Sharne Mayers, Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano, Josephine Nkomo, Modester Mupachikwa, Audrey Mazvishaya, Ashley Ndiraya, and Nomvelo Sibanda who have all been included in the squad for the series.

Christabel Chatonzwa is also set to make a return to the Lady Chevrons fold.

Meanwhile, six Zimbabwe U-19 players will be sitting for their Ordinary Level examinations, underlining Zimbabwe Cricket’s commitment to ensure that players can balance their education duties and sport.

The six players are Melinda Kachingwe, Passionate Munorwei, Kudzai Chigora, Lorraine Pemhiwa, Chipo Moyo and Ndlovhu.
