THE State has withdrawn charges against former cricketer, Dumisani Mankunzini after the complainant decided to withdraw charges against him.

Mankunzini was arrested and spent three months behind bars last year.

Yesterday he was all smiles as he walked out of a courtroom after a Bulawayo magistrate Mr Makhelo Ncube said charges against him had been withdrawn.

“An affidavit from the complainant has been filed withdrawing charges against you. However, this doesn’t mean the case has been dropped, if they ever wish to proceed with the case in future they may do so,” said Mr Ncube.

Mankunzini was facing charges of fraud after he left the city lodge where he was staying without paying his bill.

According to court records, Mankunzini allegedly checked into the lodge where he stayed for three days before leaving without settling his bill.
