Four Boka Tobacco Auction Floors employees yesterday appeared in court for allegedly defrauding the company of $24 000.
Milton Nyauchi (30), Lovemore Makarichi (26), Last Takundwa (28) and Brighton Bande (28) were not asked to plead when they appeared before Mbare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma charged with fraud.
They were remanded to May 28 on $100 bail each.
As part of their bail conditions, the quartet was ordered not to go to Boka Tobacco Auction Floors until the matter was finalised. Ms Tshuma also ordered them not to interfere with investigations and state witnesses.
Prosecutor Ms Miriam Chiba alleged that on May 5 Nyauchi and his accomplices connived to steal from Boka Tobacco Auction Floors.
Pursuant to their plan, it is alleged that they printed tickets purporting that they had sold tobacco bales and processed some cheques before signing for cash at NMB bank.
It is the State’s case that the offence came to light on May 11 when Boka company discovered that there were no bales of tobacco that had been sold in the auction floors.
Investigations were made and nothing was recovered.
