The Fashion Council of Zimbabwe (FCOZ) has ushered in a new board of directors, effective May 1, 2025, marking a strategic step towards advancing the local fashion industry.
The newly appointed board is a blend of seasoned veterans and rising voices in fashion, media, and entrepreneurship, all bringing diverse expertise to the council.
Former chairperson and FCOZ founder, Joyce Chimanye, now heads the Oversight and Advisory function. She is best known as the founder of the iconic fashion label Zuvva, and remains a pillar in the Zimbabwean fashion scene.
Taking over as chairperson is Patience Lusengo, a prominent figure in fashion and modelling across the SADC region and beyond.
Tafadzwa Zimoyo, a seasoned entertainment and fashion journalist, assumes the role of deputy chairperson, bringing deep editorial insight and media experience.
Adding youthful energy is Yolanda Ngwenya, an expert in fashion projects and events. She joins as a board member and leadership intern, representing emerging voices in the industry.
Marshall Malikula, with over 11 years in fashion retail, branding, marketing, and design, brings a strong combination of business and creative expertise.
Tsungi Banga joins as a skilled administrator, contributing her strong organisational and financial management skills.
Internationally recognised fashion entrepreneur Eglet Mtengwa Nyabvure, founder of the Afro-athleisure brand Pfeka (based in Zimbabwe and the Netherlands), brings a global perspective on fashion retail.
Butholezwe Kgosi Nyathi, a creative entrepreneur, arts administrator, and journalist, also joins the board, enhancing the council’s cultural and communication strategies.
Cosmetics mogul Jackie Mgido, founder of Vault Cosmetics, brings beauty industry representation to the council.
Rounding off the team is Tafadzwa Michael Moyo, founder and CEO of Kidd Hunta, a brand that has made waves in streetwear and menswear in Zimbabwe and Southern Africa.
In a statement, FCOZ said: “This team has been appointed in line with future strategic initiatives, with each member bringing in a relevant set of skills for the advancement of fashion in Zimbabwe.”
The non-profit organisation is dedicated to building a thriving, sustainable, and inclusive fashion and textile industry in Zimbabwe. It represents local fashion creatives, promotes emerging talent, and fosters collaborations with key stakeholders, including government bodies, the private sector, and NGOs. – Follow on X: @mthabisi_mthire
