THERE is barely time for the dust to settle from a dramatic weekend of Castle Lager Premier Soccer League action before attention shifts to a crucial midweek programme.
Just days after Highlanders stunned leaders Scottland and Triangle produced the upset of the season against Hardrock, the league returns with nine fixtures spread across today, tomorrow and Thursday.
Herentals get the ball rolling when they host Manica Diamonds at Rufaro today.
Tomorrow, the champions will host Bulawayo Chiefs at the same venue on the eve of their flight to South Africa for a date against Kaizer Chiefs at the weekend.
Chiefs travel to Harare with their own concerns after consecutive defeats have stalled their progress and left them looking nervously over their shoulders.
Perhaps the most intriguing fixture of the midweek programme takes place at Mandava, where Dynamos face an FC Platinum side steadily rediscovering their rhythm.
DeMbare were frustrated by a goalless draw against Simba Bhora at the weekend while FC Platinum arrive in a confident mood after posting 1-0 win over Bulawayo Chiefs.
Ngezi Platinum Stars have a Lowveld date against Triangle at Gibbo.
Having shocked Hardrock in a remarkable 2-1 victory, Triangle suddenly believe survival is within reach.
Hardrock also have little margin for error when they face Agama on Thursday.
Last weekend’s defeat represented one of the biggest setbacks of their season.
And, anythingless than victory would leave them vulnerable to losing further ground on the leaders.
Agama are equally desperate for points as they continue battling to pull away from the relegation zone.
CAPS United will fancy their chances when they host FC Hunters at Rufaro.
Elsewhere, Simba Bhora welcome MWOS.
