FUN-LOVING people are spoilt for choice this weekend with an array of events lined-up.
From cultural activities, gospel, jazz and amapiano, there is almost everything for everyone.
The good thing it that is now month-end and revellers can have a chance to spend their hard earned salaries.
As we say goodbye to the winter worries, August is promising to be fun and “summerish” with high temperatures expected.
Below is the entertainment guide for the weekend:
Mammoth 60th Chibuku Neshamwari beckons.
In Harare, tomorrow, the 60th Chibuku Neshamwari Festival is no doubt the major highlight of the weekend for those in love with their culture.
Parading 10 groups from across the country that do cultural music and dances, the battle for the top prize money of US$15 000 will be held at Harare Gardens.
Dubbed: “Bira Remadhanzi, 60 Years Sithokhozisa Ngezomgido!”, fans will be treated to dance that include Mbakumba, Jerusarema, Muchongoyo, Chihodha, Gule/Nyau and Amahiza.
Groups vying for honours comprise Jeketera Renyaningwe from Masvingo, Swerengoma Arts (Mashonaland Central), Imvimbi Dance Group (Matabeleland North), Makarekare Dance Group (Mashonaland East), Mbada Dance Group (Midlands), Sekunjalo Ma-Africa (Bulawayo) and Yarira Ngoma (Harare), among others.
Superstar Jah Prayzah will perform at the after-party alongside Nutty O and Selmor Mtukudzi.
Blaq Diamond invades Kadoma
The Odyssey Hotel in Kadoma is the place to be tomorrow when it hosts South African pop outfit Blaq Diamond.
The group, which touches down on the day of the show, will headline the inaugural Kadoma July Festival.
Ammara Brown, Nutty O, Pintec and Uncle Epaton are part of the bill.
Chesomania hits Midlands
Alick Macheso will be in action at Gulez Gardens tonight in Kwekwe.
After the Kwekwe affair, he shakes off the winter cold with another show at Ya FM Radio Park in Zvishavane.
He will be supported by his two sons — Esau and Tatenda — during both shows.
JP, Selmor form pact
Jah Prayzah and Selmor Mtukudzi will spend the weekend together, albeit sharing the stage.
After their first encounter at Chibuku Neshamwari finals tomorrow, the two camps will hold another show at Jongwe Corner, Harare.
Euphoria has since gripped many ahead of their family show at JC.
Cherayis’ finest hour
Gospel power couple, Minister Ellard Cherayi and his wife will be in action at 7 Arts Theatre tonight in Avondale, Harare.
The most sought-after couple will be backed by Bulawayo-based artiste, Snowy.
Comedian Nigel the Slick Pastor is also part of the bill as he will perform during the interlude.
First-grade jazz @ Bar Rouge
Veteran jazz crooner, Phillip Svosve, serenades patrons at Bar Rouge.
Backed by the superb Jabavu Drive and phenomenal trombone player Aaron Yafele, patrons are in for a real treat.
The show starts at 8pm till late.
Ngwazi invades DZ Ext
Reigning sungura artiste of the year, Mark Ngwazi, celebrates his triumph with a special show at Padziva in Dzvaresekwa Extension tomorrow.
Dubbed One Big Party, Kinnah and Carlos Green are set to provide cover at the event
It starts at 6pm till late.
Mannex simply unstoppable
Reggae musician, Emmanuel “Mannex” Motsi, has hit a purple patch and is simply on fire.
He performs at On The Roof Club, his favourite hunting ground in the Harare Avenues area.
He will be backed by Elder Potato, Slash Tee, and Daisy Zigoda.
Club Habhana on top
Harare’s trendiest nightclub, Habhana Lounge, is no doubt one of the venues to be for those who want a touch of class.
Tonight, the venue hosts Harare’s finest wheel-spinners Langton B and King Her.
Tomorrow, the venue hosts DJ Zulu Boy and Movement Band, while on Sunday, they Host Garry B, and Etherton B along with House of Stone.
