Gospel diva Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave has been appointed ambassador of cultural heritage site, Matendera Ruins, in Buhera.  Buhera rural district council chief executive officer Emily Chibvongodze said they have decided to give the gospel diva the new role because she comes from that area.
“She is from this place and we have decided to name her the brand ambassador of the heritage site,” said Chibvongodze.

She added that the Makomborero hit maker will be assisted by another Buhera born musician Blessing Shumba in sourcing funds for a festival that has been lined up for August.

“We have a festival that is coming to put the ruins on limelight and those two people from Buhera will be taking the responsibility in assisting us to source the resources for the festival,” she added.

Tonight there would be a fundraising dinner to be held at Makumbe Motel at Murambinda growth point.

She said the dinner is meant to raise funds for the festival.

Shumba is scheduled to perform at the event.

Fungisai through her manager and husband Courage Mashavave said she was ecstatic about the responsibility.

“It is a great honour to be given a responsibility like this and we are happy that it has come at the time we have just released our DVD for our album Social Facts,” he said. The DVD features Jah Prayzah on a track in which the musician explores various issues affecting people. Fungisai worked with Shumba on a duet called “Ndinotendeuka” and the duet did well on the local makert.

Shumba said he has offered to perform for guests at the dinner.

“We are from Buhera and we have to work for that area so we will be performing at the event.” he said.
