COMEDY lovers in Harare are in for a real treat on November 7 when Theatre in the Park holds the Harare edition of the ‘Fun Stories That Heal’ comedy show.

The brainchild of Frank Chirisa, the comedy show will parade an array of rising comedians who are doing very well both online and on stage.

Tanya Alex of Peaces and Pieces Entertainment is hosting the play featuring Chirisa, Tinashe Fortune, Mike Chipere, Patrick Zindoga and Farai Mukahanana.

In an interview, Alex said they were anticipating a huge turnout at the theatre hub, which has been hailed for reviving comedy.

“Frank Chirisa is the man behind this movement and I will be hosting the show which is a branch of comedy that I have been working on and growing all year,” she said.

“Definitely, it is a challenge I have taken on. The show debuted in Bulawayo with two consecutive shows at Bulawayo Theatre. The show also played at Charles Austin Theatre in Masvingo in October.”

Tanya Alex said the show has also been relevant in addressing mental well-being

“The show has opened people’s eyes to topics such as mental health and parent-child relationships, earning favour with Rotaract groups around Zimbabwe.”

Alex, whose stable has been hosting Comedy Thursdays slots at Theatre in the Park, continues to win the hearts of comedy lovers as new stars are born each year.

The one-hour show, which promises fireworks, is a must attended by old and new comedy lovers.

Comedy has been hailed as a therapy by psychologists who are doing a lot to fight mental health issues.

October has been set aside as Mental Health Month where various stakeholders are fighting the new cancer through workshops and training.

Top celebrities and creatives have been using various art forms like music, theatre, dance, spoken word, and visual arts to address mental health issues.
