FOR a while now I have been receiving queries about whether one can fuse beer with a soft drink.
And the answer is obviously “yes”. It is a cocktail after all. Anyway. So I went to Smokehouse the other week where my intention was to enjoy a bevy of ice cold beers. Black label to be precise but I didn’t want my head getting stuck in the clouds.
So after my first beer, I requested a glass of water, to which a patron seated next to me quizzed: “Are you trying to keep a balance between your alcohol consumption or are you just thirsty?” Naturally I smiled and laughed and told the lass that I was trying to keep a steady focus and avoid getting intoxicated.
So there, a conversation began, with her enjoying a cocktail, a berry filled beverage, named Pinnie or something like that. Before I knew it she persuaded me to try my beer with a zazz of Stoney Ginger.
Reluctantly, I agreed. I am always up for a new taste anyway but the fact that Stoney Ginger is somewhat sweet and gingery . . . well I think you catch the drift.
To my taste buds’ delight the drink was tasty. You don’t need to add much of the soft drink into your beer but just enough to add a new flavour into it.
Thereafter, the lass, whom I shall not mention by name, and I engaged in conversation, with her telling me how she too was always up for trying new drinks.
I asked her to name the drink, which she said she couldn’t but was just a nifty idea she thought about when she didn’t want to get knocked out by the wise waters.
It actually tastes good but if you consume too much it could lead you astray and get you knocked up.
The advantage of the drink is that you don’t need to constantly buy the soft drink as you just need one which you can share or pour after every pint or can of beer.
Till next week, have a blissful and tipsy weekend.
