UNITED KINGDOM-born Zimbabwean midfielder Sean Fusire will this afternoon join three other Warriors players on a plane to Casablanca, Morocco, where he could make his debut for the national team in two high-profile international friendlies.

Zimbabwe face Burkina Faso on Friday before they play Niger four days later, with coach Michael Nees using this platform to fine-tune for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers and AFCON finals later this year.

The German gaffer will also use this opportunity to assess prospects like Fusire as well as try to pick key points to improve the country’s international ranking.

And all is now in place for Fusire, who is the latest of the British Brigade contingent to be called up for Warriors duty, to add to several others, including Jordan Zemura, Andy Rinomhota, Brandon Galloway and Tawanda Chirewa among others, to represent Zimbabwe.

The 20-year-old towering Sheffield Wednesday player had to fly here to get his papers done before going to Morocco.

And he will join Dynamos captain Emmanuel Jalai, Highlanders’ Mason Mushore and Daniel Msendami for the long flight, a journey that will see them travel to Doha, Qatar first before touching down in Morocco tomorrow morning.

The quartet will be the last batch of the Warriors lot to arrive in the North African country.

Jalai and Mushore were in action in the battle of Zimbabwe that attracted close to 20 000 people at Rufaro yesterday, while Msendami, who plies his trade at South African side Marumo Gallants has also been in the country for logistics.

The rest of the players based locally, including Khama Billiat, Walter Musona, Tawanda Macheke, Peter Muduhwa, Donald Mudadi, Isheanesu Mauchi and Mthokozisi Msebe, left yesterday afternoon.

They also went through Qatar and are scheduled to arrive in Morocco this morning.

Those based in South Africa, who include Terrence Dzvukamanja and goalkeepers Washington Arubi and Elvis Chipezeze, also left Johannesburg yesterday afternoon and will link up with the locally-based players in Qatar on their way to Casablanca.

The rest of the players coming from all over the world were scheduled to arrive in the Moroccan capital by midnight.

ZIFA spokesperson Mike Madoda, who is part of the advance team that arrived yesterday, said, “The local contingent along with the technical team left the country around 12:30pm today (yesterday) and headed straight to Qatar where they will take a connecting flight around midnight and then arrive in Morocco around 7:30am,” said Madoda.

“Sean Fusire, who had to travel to Zimbabwe first to have his papers done, will join Jalai, Mushore and Msendami tomorrow (today) for the journey.

“The rest of the squad from everywhere else, including Teenage Hadebe, Gerald Takwara and Jonah Fabisch, among others, are expected to arrive in Morocco this midnight (early today).”

Meanwhile, the developmental Warriors team to play in the COSAFA Cup scheduled for Bloemfontein, South Africa from Wednesday up to June 15 will leave this afternoon.

They are expected to touch down in Bloemfontein at 6pm and will have just a single training session before they kick off their campaign on Wednesday.

They are in Group A alongside the hosts, South Africa, Mozambique and Mauritius, with only group winners advancing to the semis.
