The second edition of the Shangano Arts Children’s Talent Search show was successfully held on Tuesday at the Hwange Little Theatre, giving young performers a platform to showcase their skills.

Themed “Echoes for the Future”, the event was supported by Deaf Arts, Jess Holland, Lupane State University, PICA, Golden Delight, local schools from Hwange and Victoria Falls, and various community stakeholders.

Shangano Arts Trust director Petros Ndhlovu highlighted the event’s role in ongoing talent development and capacity building in Matabeleland North.

“This talent search is part of an ongoing project to identify and nurture young talent in the province,” he said.

“This week’s event focused on children from Hwange and Victoria Falls, and by December 2025, we plan to extend our reach to Binga, Tsholotsho, Lupane, Umguza, Bubi, and Nkayi districts.”

Ndhlovu added that the initiative aims to culminate in a major children’s festival in Victoria Falls or Hwange in 2026, coinciding with Shangano Arts Trust’s 20th anniversary.

“The festival will bring together the best talent from across the seven districts, serving as a mentorship opportunity for emerging artists,” he explained. – @mthabisi_mthire
