Gambler bleeds to death after stabbing

A 23-YEAR-OLD man bled to death after being viciously stabbed several times on the buttocks in Filabusi, Matabeleland South over a misunderstanding that emanated from gambling, police have said.

Matabeleland South police spokesperson, Chief Inspector Philisani Ndebele confirmed the incident which occurred on Tuesday morning.

He said the body of the deceased was found by villagers a few metres from Gumbalo Business Centre with deep cuts in the buttocks.

“The incident occurred on February 25, 2020 where the deceased was gambling with five others at Gumbalo Business Centre when a misunderstanding occurred. One of the accused stabbed the now deceased with a sharp object while the four assaulted him all over the body resulting in him dying on the spot,” said Chief Insp Ndebele.

The deceased was identified as Nqobani Moyo of Vukuzenzele Village under Chief Maduna.

Chief Insp Ndebele appealed for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.

“We are appealing for any information that will help us in the investigations. We also warn the public against engaging in illegal gambling activities,” he said.

This follows another incident where a 21-year-old Filabusi man was arrested for fatally stabbing a man, who had offered him a lift in a dispute over transport fare, with an Okapi knife.-@DesmondNdazi.
