TOMORROW (Saturday) will see the return of the highly anticipated Paramount Garments Javlin Under-20 League matches, sponsored by Paramount Garments, and organised by the Manicaland Rugby Board.
The matches were originally scheduled for last weekend, but were postponed due to the incessant heavy rainfall.
The games are scheduled to commence at 11am and conclude by 5pm at Mutare Boys’ High School, providing a full day of rugby action for fans. Although the weather disrupted the exciting line-up of matches last weekend, it provided a welcome respite for some of the clubs that had a poor opening round.
The league organisers have now rescheduled the postponed clashes for this coming weekend, promising an action-packed day of rugby at Mutare Boys’ High School.
The opening weekend of the Paramount Garments Javlin Under-20 League set high standards, with Mutare Boys’ High School (MBHS) delivering a dominant performance, securing a 54-0 victory over Mutare Sports Club.
Their offensive prowess and cohesive teamwork have made them a formidable contender this season. Old Crestonians also impressed with a solid 20-0 win against Bateleurs, showcasing their defensive strength and strategic play. This weekend, focus will be on the rescheduled matches, which promise to deliver thrilling encounters.
The boys’ Under-20 games will feature Mutare Sports Club taking on Old Crestonians, Chinyauhwera facing Bateleurs, and Knights battling it out against MBHS.
MRB director of rugby, Blessing Mwale said in addition to the boys’ matches, the girls’ fixtures will also be a highlight, with teams playing 7s rugby in a round-robin format.
“These matches are expected to draw significant attention, as teams aim to build on their early performances or bounce back from initial setbacks.
