Gang breaks into house of God

THERE’S a gadget-stealing armed to the teeth gang on the run that stole from God.

For two days in a row the armed robbers raided a primary school and got away with laptops and then decided to rob God, getting away with speakers, microphones and mixers at a church. Both targets are in Bulawayos’ Nguboyenja suburb.

A male teacher at the school said six robbers wearing masks descended on Lozikeyi Primary School on Tuesday midnight last week. They captured the security guard, beat him up then stuffed pieces of cloth into his mouth.

They were not yet done with him. They also shredded his overalls with a knife before they force marched him to a class where they tied him to a desk and locked him inside.

Then they embarked on their mission of stealing. They used bolt cutters to cut keys and opened all office doors. According to another source close to investigations the robbers got away with two brand new HP laptops, sockets, shovels and forks.

After that they went on to blast the strong room with dynamite but there was no cash. Still eager to get money they headed to the bursar’s office where they used an iron bar to open the door.

But they could not get cash. It seems that did not go down well with them as they vented their anger on windows of all offices by smashing them. The security guard was found tied to a desk by his relief colleague.

A report was made to the police and the robbers are still at large.

Two days later a gang suspected to be the same pounced at Brethren in Christ Church (BICC) Nguboyenja branch.

Chairperson of BICC Nguboyenja branch Anele Moyo discovered the break-in the next day.

“We discovered the robbery on Friday morning. They took two hybrid speakers, one mixer, four cordless microphones and four corded microphones, amplifier and a surge protector. The estimated value of all the stolen items is R20 000,” he said.

Moyo reported the matter to police prompting the police investigate two robberies from the same area.

“We are investigating two incidents of robbery that occurred at Nguboyenja suburb where robbers stole at Lozikeyi primary school and BICC church.

The suspected robbers are still at large,” said Bulawayo police spokesperson chief inspector Precious Simango.
