A GANG of three men who hired a motorist to drive them to Shamva from Harare, allegedly robbed the driver of his car and used it a robbery .
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of Stanley Sibanda (52), Walter Nenyere (32) and Tadiwanashe Mbizi (22), following the incident that occurred on 29 October 2025.

Comm Nyathi said the trio approached a driver at Simon Muzenda Bus Terminus in Harare, claiming they wanted to hire his vehicle for a trip to Shamva.
“They offered the complainant US$50 for the hire,” said Comm Nyathi. “However, upon arrival in Shamva, the suspects allegedly attacked the complainant and robbed him of a Mitsubishi Lancer vehicle, US$400 and other personal belongings .”

Not done, the thugs reportedly went on another robbery rampage using the stolen vehicle. “On the same date, the suspects used the stolen vehicle to block another complainant who was riding a motorcycle along Harare–Mukumbura Road at the 190 km peg,” Comm Nyathi said.
“They allegedly assaulted the complainant and robbed him of a cellphone, a satchel containing various clothes and a wallet with identification particulars.”

Their luck, however, ran out fast. The alert ZRP Mukumbura team swooped in and arrested the trio at Katarina Business Centre, recovering the stolen Mitsubishi Lancer in the process.
Comm Nyathi warned would-be offenders that the long arm of the law always catches up. “The ZRP continues to warn criminals that they will be accounted for wherever they are,” he said.

Police investigations are ongoing.
