TWO Bulawayo allegedly staged a daring heist at a Kelvin North garage, getting away with rims and tyres worth more than US$10 000.
Nhlanhla Ndebele (26) of Tshabalala and Mandlenkosi Moyo (21) of Iminyela appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube facing theft charges. They were remanded in custody to 29 September.
Prosecutor Cathrine Kuzu told the court the duo first struck on 21 August, helping themselves to 11 rims and three tyres before slipping away unnoticed.
But greed got the better of them. Three days later, around 5AM, the pair returned to the same garage to steal more loot. This time, members of the neighbourhood watch committee pounced.
Ndebele was caught red-handed while Moyo bolted, but police later tracked him down through investigations. Some of the stolen property was recovered from an unsuspecting buyer.
