ZIMBABWE national netball team player, Thandazile Ndhlovu, is leaving the country to join a Singaporean club this season.
The 22-year-old goal shooter, who stands at 1.87 metress tall, will debut for Swifts Netball Club in Singapore.
Ndhlovu confirmed the move yesterday when she bade farewell to Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) Commissioner General Moses Chihobvu and her colleagues.
She said:
“I want to thank my parents, ZPCS, especially Commissioner General Chihobvu, for paving the way for me to showcase my talent outside the country.
“I promise to raise the flag of Zimbabwe higher. My team-mates at both the national team and Correctional Queens have supported me throughout this journey.”
Her farewell ceremony was attended by senior officers and her team manager, Edzai Nkosana.
Ndhlovu started her netball journey at Sobukhazi High School in Matabeleland before joining Correctional Queens last year.
She could not recall the number of goals she has scored for the Gems.
Swifts’ recruitment of Ndhlovu follows a growing trend of Zimbabwean players moving to Southeast Asian leagues.
Several clubs there have been active in scouting for domestic talent to strengthen their squads.
