GEO Pomona Waste Management has entered a collaborative partnership with Belgian firm Ecosteryl, which will enhance its capacity to deal with medical waste.

The waste management company’s chief executive and executive chairman, Dr Dilesh Nguwaya last week met with Ecosteryl president Mr Olivier Dufrasne, accompanied by Zimbabwe’s deputy Ambassador to Belgium, Mrs Angelica Katuruza.

Speaking after a practical presentation of one of Ecosteryl’s machines, Mr Dufrasne said a team from the company would be visiting Zimbabwe to share expertise with Geo Pomona soon.

“So for as the president of Ecosteryl company, it was an honour and a pleasure to welcome Dr Dilesh Nguwaya’s team, the best and the number one company in Zimbabwe for the treatment of waste, to show them our know-how, share our expertise and realise that this partnership has a bright future to offer to the communities and Zimbabwean population a proper and professional treatment of medical waste.

“So we look forward to the next step of this very nice collaboration and we will be happy to visit Zimbabwe with my team very soon,” he said.

On his part, Dr Nguwaya said the envisaged medical waste treatment plant would increase Geo Pomona’s waste management capabilities.

“I am very happy, I am here in Belgium looking for a partnership with Ecosteryl for the medical waste treatment plant.

“This plant will help the Government of Zimbabwe and the people of Zimbabwe in treating our medical waste.

“It is very important to have this type of machine (Ecosteryl machine) so that every citizen of Zimbabwe lives in a good environment.

“This type of machine is recognised internationally; it is a state-of-the-art machine which we need Zimbabwe to adopt, to use for treating our medical waste in Zimbabwe,” he  said.

As a machine manufacturer for more than 70 years, Ecosteryl has developed unique expertise in the development of state-of-the-art environmental equipment.

Ecosteryl aims to eradicate the environmental and health problems associated with medical waste in the world.
