Geo Pomona Waste Management chief executive officer and executive chairman Mr Dilesh Nguwaya said the signing of the MoU signals the deepened relationship between the two organisations.

“This partnership will facilitate the repurposing of the Golden Quarry to a world -class tourism site.

“Owing to the 40 years of unmanaged industrial waste deposits, borehole water in the surrounding areas of Westlea, Merryick Park and Ashdon Park was now being contaminated,” he said.

Instak chief executive Ambassador Kwame Muzawazi said they are going through a process of rehabilitation of the dumpsite, making it a green place.

“We want to have it functioning in a serene environment. We are also bringing a roller coaster, a ferries wheel, an animal park in this area to ensure that there is value addition to the Museum of African Liberation and the Liberation City itself,” he said.

Minister of Tourism Barbra Rwodzi who was among the guests witnessing the historic event said she was glad that the land to be reclaimed is earmarked to develop tourism products.
