GEO POMONA WASTE MANAGEMENT will represent Zimbabwe at the Africa Climate Summit 2 (ACS2), which will be running from September 8 to 10, 2025, at the Addis International Convention Centre in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The summit, which brings together governments, private sector leaders and development partners, will focus on charting Africa’s path toward climate resilience.

Geo Pomona will use the platform to highlight Zimbabwe’s progress in sustainable waste management, renewable energy and circular economy solutions.

The company’s showcase will feature practical models of land rehabilitation, waste-to-energy transformation, recycling innovations and community-driven sustainability initiatives.

Its participation builds on the success of COP 15 in Victoria Falls, where Geo Pomona gained recognition for its circular economy model, waste-to-energy innovation and commitment to wetland conservation.

Geo Pomona CEO and executive chairperson Dr Dilesh Nguwaya, who is leading the delegation, said the company’s mission is to “turn today’s waste into tomorrow’s resources”.

He noted that Africa Climate Summit 2 offers an ideal platform to demonstrate Zimbabwe’s leadership in waste management, particularly as the company operates the largest waste sorting plant in Southern Africa.

“As the leading public-private-partnership waste management company in Zimbabwe, this summit enables us to build strategic partnerships, access new technologies and engage with global investors who share our vision for a green and resilient Africa,” Dr Nguwaya said.

He also underscored the social impact of sustainable waste management, highlighting its potential to create jobs, build skills and uplift communities.

“Climate action is not just about reducing emissions — it’s about improving lives and encouraging collective responsibility,” he said.

Geo Pomona’s participation at ACS2 reinforces Zimbabwe’s commitment to the Paris Agreement, the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the broader continental effort to achieve climate-smart urban development.
