TWO top German motocross clubs — RMC Reutlingen and MSC Teutschenthal — are interested in helping a number of young Zimbabwean riders in their preparations for this year’s FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Championship which is scheduled to be held at Donnybrook in Harare on August 29.
The Zimbabwe Motosport Federation recently agreed to host the 2015 FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Championship after Botswana indicated that they were no longer in a position to host this annual continental motorcycling event.
And two of Germany’s top motocross clubs — RMC Reutlingen and MSC Teutschenthal — have indicated through the GeBe Foundation, a German non-profit making organisation that has links with a number sports organisations in that country, that they would like to take in a number of young Zimbabwean riders for a training camp ahead of the FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations Championship in August.
Bernd Wulffen, the director and founder of the GeBe Foundation who also have a branch in Cape Town, South Africa, said the two German motocross clubs are targeting at least six young, talented Zimbabwean riders for this training camp scheduled for July and August in the European country.
“So far, we have the names of six riders — Daiyaan Manuel, Kuda Mhene (Jnr), Davin Cocker, Ryan Masimo, Emmanuel Bako and Regan Wasmuth — who have been earmarked for this special training camp in Germany ahead of the African Nations Championship.
“At the moment, four riders — Daiyaan Manuel, Kuda Mhene (Jnr), Ryan Masimo and Davin Cocker — have already committed themselves to this project and we are hoping that they will be joined by Regan Wasmuth and Emmanuel Bako who, we are understand, are also brilliant young bikers and have a bright future ahead of them . . . We understand that there’s unbelievable potential in all these riders.
