Gerrard warns Kop

LONDON. — Steven Gerrard has warned Liverpool not to assume they will be title contenders simply because of their exploits last season.
On the eve of the new campaign, the Liverpool captain drew on bitter past experience to insist last term’s second-placed finish now counts for nothing.Liverpool finished second to champions Manchester City after coming close to ending their quest for a first title since 1990 and have invested heavily in new players despite the departure of £75m Luis Suarez.

Gerrard was a runner-up in 2002 and 2009 only for those challenges to fade away. — The Daily Express.
