A THREE-YEARP-OLD girl from Masvosva Village in Rusape died after she was struck by a Toyota Land Cruiser along the Harare-Mutare Road near Panmart Supermarket and Wholesalers.
The incident occurred on October 16 around 4pm.
Acting Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the tragedy and identified the victim as Juliana Muchedze.
He said Gilbert Kudanga (43) was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser when the tragedy occurred.
“Upon reaching the 171-kilometre peg near Panmart in Rusape, Kudanga hit Juliana who was attempting to cross the road.
“She was quickly taken to Rusape Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon admission,” said Ass Insp Chinyoka.
Rusape traffic police attended the scene. The girl suffered serious head injuries and the body was taken to Rusape General Hospital for a post-mortem.
Kudanga is facing charges of culpable homicide.
