BULAWAYO’S Girls’ College senior hockey team is in Masvingo for a national schools’ A League game against Kyle College.

The girls’ A League comprises 10 schools, Girls’ College, Kyle College, Peterhouse, Watershed, Hellenic Academy (Harare), Chisipite, Arundel, Gateway Christian College, Lomagandi and Dominican Convent (Harare).

Girls’ College go into the match full of confidence after felling Lomagundi College 3-1 in their previous encounter played in Harare last week.

Michelle Mullins, the Girls’ College sports director, said it was important for them to win today’s game so as to keep the pressure on Peterhouse Girls, who remain unbeaten, going into the last match of the season.

Mullins said their last game would be against Arundel Girls from Harare.

She said they were hoping to play a good game and had prepared well for the encounter.

“We are hoping to win these matches against Kyle College and Arundel,” she said.

Girls’ College’s Under-14, Under-15 and Under-16 teams will also play against Kyle College.

Kyle College headmaster Corril Odendaal said his team have had an “unlucky season with our first team only winning one game in the A League”.

He said out of seven matches, they had won one, drawn two and lost four. They drew 2-2 against Peterhouse in their last game.

“Peterhouse is a tough team to beat in our league,” said Odendaal.
