HWANGE Ladies FC goalkeeper Pamela Mhlanga believes she is being overlooked for a national team call up and has challenged Mighty Warriors gaffer Shadreck Mlauzi to give her a chance.
Mhlanga has strong conviction that if she gets a chance to don the Mighty Warriors colours, fortunes will change for the better for the national side.
The goalminder finished the 2016 season on a high note having conceded a few goals and is touted as one of the best in the local women football circuit. She was once called up to trials with the national team but failed to turn up due to a family bereavement.
For now, she still yearns for a second call up.
a?I am the best goalkeeper in the land. Thereas no goalkeeper better than me,a? said Mhlanga.
Her claim comes hot on the heels of a disappointing show by the Mighty Warriors on their early exit from the just ended African Womenas Cup of Nations (AWCON) in Cameroon. The Hwange Ladies player said the team would have made it if Mlauzi had faith in other players elsewhere.
a?As a footballer I was disappointed with how the Mighty Warriors played. The girls are talented but I urge the coach to try talent from areas such as Hwange. I am not undermining the current setup, but encouraging the technical team to complement the team by calling players from Hwange as well,a? she said.
