Give your favourite summer cocktails a warming winter makeover

When you think of cocktails it’s easy to conjure up visions of sipping summer drinks.

This time of the year, we tend to find ourselves craving a hot fire, a big comfortable sweater, and a warm drink in our hands. With all of the holidays and chilly weather forecasts, a warm and delicious cocktail is what you need!

I have rounded up some of our favourite cocktails, both hot and cold, to share with friends and loved ones all winter long.
Your favourite Sex on The Beach wouldn’t be a very bad idea this winter after all.

But the night’s drawing in and the cold weather getting colder is a perfect excuse to get your cocktail-making ingredients out and give your cocktail-shaking arm a much-needed workout.

If you find yourself craving your favourite summer cocktails, why not give them a winter makeover? There are several makeovers you can make and thank you to the courtesy of The Liquid Chef Extraordinaire’s recipes.

He gave me a rundown of what could be consumed during the cold season, which is almost over and that is thanks to Mother Nature but this was long needed and perhaps we all can keep these recipes of our favourite mélanges.

The best options for this are a margarita. Yes, they are tequila infused and they do whack a punch while also leaving you feeling snug and smooth. We all know what a tequila can do, a few shots of that leaves you in a state of mayhem. As usual these cocktails taste better with good food or snacks.

“Why not warm up the cold nights with a margarita instead,” says the Liquid Chef.
What you need is good ingredients if you want perfection.

“Coconut milk, silver tequila, triple sec, lime juice, one lime, sliced into rounds for garnish, a lime wedge, for rimming glass, sanding sugar, for rimming glass, cranberries, for garnish, ice the method is quite simple. Combine coconut milk, tequila, triple sec, lime juice and ice in a blender. Blend until smooth. Rim the glass or glasses with lime wedge and dip in sanding sugar. Pour into glass and garnish with lime and cranberries. Thereafter serve to your delight,” said The Liquid Chef.Well, that is the summer version so he says.

The winter makeover ingredients consist of cranberries, caster sugar, salt, limes, cranberry juice, silver tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and mint leaves. The same method applies here. In a medium bowl, toss cranberries with lime juice. Drain out lime juice, then toss with sugar.

Pour onto a baking sheet to dry. Combine remaining sugar with salt on a shallow plate and mix to combine. Using a lime wedge, wet the rim of each glass, then dip in sugar salt mixture. Combine cranberry juice, tequila, triple sec, lime juice, and ice in a large blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into prepared glasses and garnish with a sprig of mint and a couple sugared cranberries.

Till next week, have a blissful and tipsy weekend.
