GIZ donates office equipment to support NEPAD Co-ordination Unit of the AUC

auADDIS ABABAThe New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) Co-ordination Unit of the African Union received on September 18, some office equipment donated by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) to help strengthen the capacity of the Unit. The handing over ceremony took place at the AU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The items ranging from workstations, monitors, webcams, network printers, laptops, scanner and projection screen, were handed over by the Head of the GIZ, Dr. Mechthild Ruenge

Speaking on behalf of the AU Commission, Dr. Hesphina Rukato, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Commission  thanked the German Government for the continued support given to the AU and its Organs thorough the GIZ, within the framework of the good cooperation between the two organizations.

“This includes programmatic support to some of the priority programmes of the AU, such as the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA), the Comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP), peace and security and capacity building, just to name a few” she underlined.

Acknowledging the items donated by the GIZ Representative, Mrs. Vera Brenda Ngosi, Head of the NEPAD Co-ordination Unit said the office equipment will be used efficiently and will go a long way to enhancing the operations of the NEPAD Coordination Unit within the African Union. – African Union Commission.
