Glad Tidings turns 34

GLAD Tidings Fellowship will today mark its 34th anniversary, which will be marked with the official opening of its auditorium at the High Glen Assembly in Harare.
The celebrations will feature song and dance, Mr Benjamin Ganyiwa, the acting spokesperson for the co-ordinating committee said.

Headed by one founding member Pastor Andrew Gore, Glad Tidings Fellowship began its journey in Highfield, Harare two years into Zimbabwe’s independence from colonial rule.

Pr Richmond Chiundiza started the ministry by forming a five-member group called Disciples in Action, with a vision anchored on 1 Corinthians 12 and Ephesians 4.

“Together with pastors Durajid Simba, George Kaseke and Langton Gatsi who founded One Way Ministries, these men of God used their own resources and time to advance the spreading of the Gospel into towns and rural communities.

“They also took the gospel beyond borders into South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Swaziland as well as across the Atlantic and Indian oceans,” Mr Ganyiwa said.

Glad Tidings Fellowship is involved in various social responsibility programmes. It has under its care 270 vulnerable people who include the old, widows and widowers.

The church also takes care of orphans, paying for their school fees and uniforms among other needs.
Glad Tidings Fellowship is estimated to have a membership of 100 000 followers spread in its 120 branches countrywide.
