GLEN-VIEW North Member of Parliament and Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) politician, Happymore Chidziva, is on the run after being accused of raping a 16-year-old girl who is related to his wife.
Police are keen to interview Chidziva in connection with the case.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the developments.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that a report of rape allegations against Happymore Chidziva (MP Glen-View North) has been made by a complainant and her family at Harare Central Police Station this (yesterday) afternoon. More details will be released in due course.”
According to media reports last week, the family reported the girl as missing, with Chidziva accused of hiding her.
A missing person report was once filed at Budiriro police station.
Chidziva is still at large.
