ENERGY experts from across the world have gathered in Port Louis, Mauritius, to deliberate on sustainable energy issues and how African countries can improve access to energy within their borders.
This comes at a time when many African countries are struggling to provide electricity, particularly due to climate change-related challenges.
The conference, running under the theme Regional to Global, has brought together experts from Zimbabwe, Russia, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Ivory Coast, Mauritius, and Kenya. The Global Energy Association has organised the event.
“The International conference aims to highlight the role of developing countries in the global energy balance and share experiences from different regions in promoting affordable and sustainable energy for all. These events focus on countries in Central and Southern Asia, Latin America, and Africa,” reads the statement for the conference.
Some of the issues to be discussed include how African countries can transition to clean, affordable energy sources. The conference will also address how energy challenges have hindered sustainable economic and social development in many countries.
The Regional to Global conference will also explore how technology can help overcome current and future challenges in the energy sector.
