GLOW Petroleum retained their title in the women’s Ingwebu Tug of War National Championships held yesterday at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Main Arena while Exide were dethroned by the men’s champions Mutare Board Paper Mills.
The men’s final pitted Mutare Board Paper Mills against ZETDC Western with the former emerging victorious.

Defending Champions, Exide were knocked out in the semi-finals by ZETDC Western. Mutare Board and Paper Mills are no strangers to winning the competition as they have won it numerous times over the years, at some stage completely dominating the competition.

In the women’s final, Glow Petroleum walked away with the top prize with a win over ZPC Munyati. Prizes were the same for the men and women, with the teams finishing in the top three getting rewarded equally as the sponsors sought gender balance.

Winners walked away with US$800 while this year’s competition had a total sponsorship package of US$11 500. Ingwebu Breweries are the sole sponsors of the national competition. The hugely popular competition, one of the main attractions on the last day of the ZITF, made a return last year after not being held in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. —Follow on Twitter @innocentskizoe
