THE Grain Marketing Board (GMB) has received US$10 million from Treasury to clear the United States dollar component of payments for summer grain deliveries up to October 12, bringing cumulative payments for 2026 grain deliveries to US$49 million and ZWG388 million.

The latest disbursement comes as payments for current wheat deliveries have also commenced, providing some relief to farmers supplying grain to the State-owned grain buyer.

In a statement, GMB chief executive officer Dr Edison Badarai said the latest Treasury allocation demonstrated Government’s continued support for agriculture.

“The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) is delighted to announce receipt of US$10 million from the Treasury, clearing USD component for summer crop deliveries as at 12 October 2026, while payments for current wheat deliveries have also commenced.

“This brings total cumulative payments for 2026 grain deliveries to US$49 million and ZWG 388 million,” he said.

The latest payment follows a ZWG120 million disbursement last week, which Dr Badarai said reflected Government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector.

“This timely payment comes on the back of another ZWG 120 million paid last week, demonstrating the Government’s steadfast commitment to agriculture, a key sector driving Zimbabwe’s economy,” he added.

Timely payment for grain deliveries is important in encouraging farmers to continue supplying the GMB, which plays a central role in grain procurement and national food security.

Government has prioritised agricultural production and grain procurement as part of efforts to support economic growth, reduce reliance on imports and maintain strategic grain reserves.
