AWARD-WINNING artist Jah Prayzah has urged his fans to go and support the Simon Chimbetu Festival even though he will not be able to perform at the event in Chegutu on Saturday.
The superstar said he will be in Nyanga for the Mountain Valley Marathon on the same day.
“I would have loved to be part of this special celebration of the late Mudhara Simon Chimbetu and the beautiful legacy he left us.
“Unfortunately, I will be in Nyanga for the Mountain Valley Marathon on the same day and will not be able to attend.
‘‘To all my fans in and around Chegutu, and those who will not make it to Nyanga, please go out and support the Chimbetu family as we celebrate one of Zimbabwe’s great musical legacies. Much love and wishes to Mukoma vangu Sulu Chimbetu and the entire Chimbetu family.”
To celebrate the late Simon Chimbetu, who would have turned 71 yesterday, musicians from different generations and genres, including Zimdancehall, Afro-fusion and contemporary music, will come together at the Simon Chimbetu Music Festival.
The third edition of the festival, set for this Saturday at Magandi Park in Chegutu, features a star-studded line-up, including acts from the Chimbetu Family, Killer T, Kurai Makore, Peter Moyo, Andy Muridzo, Queen Kadhija, Uncle Epatan, Maskiri, Roki, Madedido and Taurai Mandebvu. Simon launched his career in the late ‘70s with his brother Naison.
