IT has been a lukewarm goalless first half between Bulawayo Chiefs and Simba Bhora, with both sides creating chances but lacking the cutting edge in front of goal.

Anesu Saiti nearly handed Chiefs the perfect start just seven minutes into the match. Clean through and having rounded goalkeeper William Thole, the forward only needed a simple finish, but he failed to hit the target from close range in what proved to be an early let-off for Simba Bhora.

The visitors responded in the 17th minute when Elferus Luqman Leevi found himself through on goal. However, he struggled to keep his balance at the decisive moment and could not get into a proper shooting position, allowing the chance to go begging.

Bulawayo Chiefs continued to push, with Nkosilathi Ncube attempting his luck from range in the 27th minute, but his effort flew over the crossbar.

On the half-hour mark, a well-delivered cross from the right by Nomore Tsabora almost found Wellington Makopa, but the striker failed to make contact, resulting in yet another missed opportunity.

Moments later, Melikhaya Ncube came close with a powerful long-range strike that forced a brilliant low save from

Chiefs goalkeeper William Thole, who was called into action to keep his side level.

As the first half drew to a close, Nkosilathi Ncube had another sight at goal in a promising position, but once again his effort went over, summing up a half where chances were created but not converted.

The two sides head into the break deadlocked at 0-0, with plenty still to play for in the second half.
