Goat rapists on the prowl

RAPE is heinous in that it represents the gross violation of the victim.

Violating an animal is equally egregious.

Worryingly, incidents of bestiality, especially against defenceless animals like goats and donkeys, seem to be on the rise.

In a disturbing incident that occurred just over a year after a 20-year-old man from Godlwayo Village 3 in Esigodini, Matabeleland South province, was arrested for raping a goat to death, another 23-year-old man from Esigodini was apprehended for a similar heinous act.

In the first incident, Mthandazo Ndlovu raped Brighton Nkomo’s goat to death before being caught red-handed with Luckson Mkandla’s goat.

Both Nkomo and Mkandla are from Ntabende village in Esigodini.

In the latest case, Nkosikhona Moyo, a married herdsman with two children, caused outrage in the community when he raped Munyaradzi Marufu’s goat from Njuka Farm.

Just like in the previous case, the rapist was caught after goat owners tracked a trail of footmarks from the goat pens to the pervert’s home.

It was proved that on October 6, 2024, Moyo went to Njuka Farm during the night and entered the complainant’s pen.

There, he grabbed one of the female goats and was intimate with it.

On the following day, around 6am, the complainant found the female goat unconscious.

Upon examination, he reportedly discovered what appeared to be human semen on its rear, suggesting that it had been subjected to a violent sexual assault.

The complainant and his co-workers then followed a trail of footsteps from the goat pen to Moyo’s home.

The matter was reported to the police, leading to Moyo’s arrest and subsequent appearance before Esigodini magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube.

He was charged with bestiality as defined in Section 74 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

He pleaded guilty and was fined US$150 or two months imprisonment in default of payment.

The magistrate described Moyo’s conduct as barbaric and morally reprehensible.

In determining the sentence, the magistrate considered the fact that the accused was a first offender, married and had children to support.

He noted that the accused was the primary breadwinner for his family and a custodial sentence would have a negative impact on his dependants.

The magistrate stated that the accused pleaded guilty to the offence and did not waste the court’s time.

“He pleaded guilty to the offence and did not waste the court’s time. The goat did not die or suffer injury as a result of the offence. In aggravation, no compensation was paid to the owner of the goat. Further, the conduct of the offender was barbaric,” ruled the magistrate.

“Be that as it may, imprisonment will be too harsh as the conduct of the offender did not cause the death of the goat. As such, a fine will serve the justice of the case.” — B-Metro

Peeping Tom nabbed

If you think that a bathroom, especially in the rural areas, is one of the private and safest places in the world, well, you might need to think again.

Young women from the Ezimnyama area in Plumtree, Matabeleland South province, are encouraging others to be vigilant when taking showers, particularly during the evening, as there may be someone watching.

This warning comes after a female teacher at Ivimila High School discovered a pair of eyes ogling at her through a bathroom window while she was bathing.

Upon realising she was being watched, the teacher screamed, causing the Peeping Tom to flee.

It was later revealed that the notorious voyeur, Mkhanyisi Ndlovu, had been doing this for some time.

On October 6, 2024, at around 9pm, Ndlovu went to the complainant’s house at Ivimila High School teacher’s cottages.

Upon arrival, while the complainant was taking a bath, he would peep through the bathroom window, feasting on her naked body.

Ndlovu, who was spying on the complainant as she showered on the day he was busted, could not contain his sexual urges and began moaning with pleasure.

Upon realising that she was being watched, the teacher screamed, causing Ndlovu to flee the scene.

The teacher immediately reported the incident to other teachers, who advised her to set an ambush.

On October 8, 2024, the accused arrived as usual.

While the complainant was inside the bathroom, pretending to take a bath, Ndlovu peeped through the window. However, he was spotted by some boys who were on the lookout for the unwanted voyeur.

The boys chased after him, but they were unable to catch him.

The following morning, the complainant and other teachers followed the accused person’s footprints, which led them to his place.

They then took him to the police, where he was charged with criminal nuisance.

Ndlovu later appeared before Plumtree resident magistrate Joshua Nembaware and pleaded guilty to the charge.

He breathed a sigh of relief when the magistrate warned, cautioned and discharged him.

Asked why he committed the offence, Ndlovu looked down in shame and had nothing to say. — Bulawayo Bureau

Pastor sires children with “bride” whose wedding he solemnised

In a dramatic court revelation, Pastor Vhetu of End Time Messages has admitted to fathering two children with Eunice Mururi, whose wedding he solemnised.

This confession came after DNA tests confirmed that Mururi’s estranged husband, Farai Hatirarami, is not the biological father.

Mururi is seeking US$700 per month in child maintenance, prompting Vhetu to request a lower amount. He claimed he relies on tithes and food hampers, offering only 150 ZiG per child.

Vhetu, who has eight other children, stated he has no bank account and depends on EcoCash for transactions.

Harare magistrate Diana Musiiwa dismissed Vhetu’s proposal as insincere, ordering him to pay US$175 monthly for both children. — Wires

Teen allegedly raped for two consecutive days

A man from Dakamela in Nkayi, Matabeleland North province, has been arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl for two days before chasing her away on the third day, telling her to go and look for a job.

This was heard when Josphat Thebala Bhebhe appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Sekai Benhilda Chiundura facing rape charges.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence and was remanded in custody.

In his defence, Bhebhe said the complainant came to his place and told him “she was going somewhere”.

He denied having sexual intercourse with her, claiming they only conversed outside his homestead.

He further stated that the complainant never slept at his homestead during the three days she was alleged to be missing.

Meanwhile, the complainant’s mother, who was a witness in this case, said they had been searching for the complainant for days and had put out word that she was missing.

“We had received information that the complainant was at the accused’s place of residence from other children whom she fellowships with at church and the complainant’s father had proceeded to the accused’s brother’s homestead,” she said.

The witness said the complainant’s father had sent the accused’s brother to check the accused’s house as he was afraid of taking the law into
his own hands by searching the accused’s house.

She added that she was called by the police on June 23, 2024 and told that they had found the complainant.

Upon her arrival at the police station, she said she found the complainant having finished narrating the whole incident to the police.

She said the police gave her an instruction to further probe the complainant on what really happened to her.

The complainant told her that the accused had raped her for two days and chased her away on the third day, telling her to go look for a job. — Wires
