THE Changunda family last Saturday celebrated Gogo Regina Changunda’s 89th birthday where she noted that her love for God continued to bless her with many more years in life.

Gogo Changunda’s birthday also coincided with a welcome party for her daughter, Consolata.

Gogo Changunda has been living in Pumula, Bulawayo since 1956, while Consolata has been staying in UK for the past 18 years.

“My secret to longevity is God. I’m a Roman Catholic and I’ve been in the church ever since I was born. I am happy with what my family has decided to do for me and may God bless them. I am equally happy that today we are welcoming back my daughter who has been overseas for the past 18 years,” said Gogo Changunda.

Gogo Changunda’s son Patrick, who is a local businessman, who was also celebrating his 41-year anniversary with his wife said:

“I am very happy to have hosted this day to celebrate my mother because ever since my father left she has been the backbone of the family and has kept us together. It is important that people learn to celebrate their loved ones while they are still alive and have beautiful memories that they can hold on to,” said Mr Changunda.

Consolata said she was very happy to be back home and that she’s here to stay.
