THERE are several artistes to watch at this year’s Independence Gala, with a number of performers set to make their maiden appearances, among them Tshibilika musician and dancer Godolude.
A crowd favourite in the Matabeleland region, Godolude is poised to perform his hit track Isibindi seLiquor, popularly known as Bambadzi, before a national audience for the first time.
The event will be held at Minda High School grounds in Matobo District, Matabeleland South province, following the Independence Day celebrations running under the theme “Zim@46: Unity and Development Towards Vision 2030”.
Speaking ahead of the gala, Godolude expressed excitement about his debut appearance, describing it as a significant milestone for his brand.
“This will be my first time performing at the Independence Gala, and it means a great deal to our brand as it reflects our growth on a national level, something we have always aspired to. We are confident we will deliver, asilavalo.
“As I promised when I started my own group, it is stage performance that takes us to national events, so people in Matobo will enjoy and believe it when they watch us perform Bambadzi live (Isibindi seLiquor),” said Godolude.
At the gala, Godolude will share the stage with an array of artistes including Jeys Marabini, Clement Magwaza, Mavusani and The Chimurenga Vocalists, Black Diva, Dereck Mpofu, Andy Muridzo, LMG Choir, Mbare Chimurenga Choir, Zinjaziyamluma, Black Umfolosi, Ndolwane Super Sounds and Chief Hwenje. Other performers lined up are Khonangale, Indosakusa The Morning Star, Iyasa, Ma9Nine, Bhadilah, Chase Skuza, Jah Master, Sasha, Bolamba Culture Birds, Ndux Makadii, Suluman Chimbetu, Ufasimba Home of Arts, DT Bio Mudimba and Dubai Masters.
