LOCAL Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister, Dr Ignatius Chombo and Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Kudakwashe Bhasikiti received 30 tonnes of maize from Chemagora farmers in Gokwe on behalf of Tokwe-Mukosi flood victims.
Government declared the floods which displaced thousands of people surrounding Tokwe-Mukosi Dam a national disaster.
Chemagora farmers recorded a bumper harvest this year.

Speaking after receiving the maize, Dr Chombo, applauded Chief Njelele for coordinating the donation.
“I would like to commend Chief Njelele and his people for remembering the people of Tokwe-Mukosi who were affected by floods. It is within our African culture that we help those in need,” he said.

Turning to the farm ownership wrangle in Chemagora, Dr Chombo who is the secretary for Lands in the Politburo in Zanu-PF said the party had directed Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Jason Machaya to expedite the conclusion of the land ownership wrangle.

In his acceptance speech, Minister Bhasikiti said the donation was the biggest to come from a chief and his people in the country so far.
He said with the productivity and full utilisation of land exhibited by 150 families, government should finalise the land wrangle so that the farmers could farm without any hindrances.

Chief Njelele who handed over the maize consignment said the donation is a reciprocation of President Mugabe’s gesture of giving them inputs under the Presidential inputs scheme.
