GOKWE Kana Constituency is witnessing accelerated infrastructure and social development as the Government rolls out projects aimed at improving livelihoods under the Second Republic’s inclusive development agenda.

This week, Minister of State for Midlands Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Owen Ncube, who is also the constituency legislator, commissioned and inspected a range of projects covering education, water, agriculture and digital connectivity.

Among the initiatives were the donation of 70 cattle ahead of Independence Day commemorations, commissioning of solarised boreholes in every ward, and inspection of classroom blocks under construction.

Schools in the constituency also received laptops, furniture and Starlink internet kits as part of efforts to bridge the digital divide in rural communities.

Minister Ncube said the projects are aligned with Vision 2030 and President Mnangagwa’s development philosophy of leaving no one and no place behind.

“The Second Republic, which is led by President Mnangagwa, is acting on its promises aimed at developing the constituency in line with Vision 2030. It is the wish of our President to see all areas being developed in line with his philosophy of leaving no one and no place behind,” he said.

The minister also toured Mapiwa, Tachi, Ndarire, Magedhe, Kambe and Ndanduro business centres where he engaged residents on local development priorities.

Minister Ncube said an irrigation scheme is set to be opened to improve food security and create employment through year-round farming.

He added that all schools and clinics in the constituency are scheduled to be connected to electricity by the end of this year.

“The electrification of schools and clinics is a key target of the Second Republic under the visionary leadership of His Excellency President Mnangagwa,” he said.

On water access, Minister Ncube said every ward now has a solar-powered borehole supplying clean drinking water.

“Every ward now has access to clean, safe drinking water. The solar-powered systems cut running costs, ensure reliability even off-grid and improve health and sanitation for households and public institutions,” he said.

To improve communication and internet access, network boosters are being installed in low-coverage areas, with works said to be 50 percent complete.

“Improved mobile and internet coverage will support schools, clinics, businesses and emergency services, driving inclusive digital transformation,” said Minister Ncube.

He said the combination of education support, digital access, irrigation development and rural electrification was expected to strengthen service delivery and unlock broader economic opportunities in the constituency.

Minister Ncube commended Zanu-PF members for maintaining peace during consultations on Constitutional Amendment Bill Number 3, saying their efforts had ensured a smooth process.

“The Bill, now endorsed, allows President ED Mnangagwa to lead until 2030, a move that will ensure continuity and stability for ongoing national development projects,” he said.

Minister Ncube also commissioned solarised boreholes in each ward, providing clean drinking water to residents.
