Gokwe police arrest notorious robbers

Police in Gokwe has arrested seven suspects including a woman believed to be part of a gang which has been moving around Gokwe Centre robbing residents in broad day light.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the seven were arrested while in action, robbing their latest target.

“The seven suspects were nabbed after robbing an 18-year-old man during broad day light yesterday. The incident occurred at Mapfumo 1 Business Centre in Gokwe.

“The complainant, Delta Ndlovu (18) was at the business centre when the suspects disembarked from a Honda Fit registration number AFB 3811 white in colour. One of them grabbed the complainant while holding a knife and tripped him to the ground. The trio then jointly searched the complainant and took away US$50 and fled,” said Insp Mahoko.

Insp Mahoko said the seven were later arrested the same day after police got some leads from members of the public.

The suspects are currently held at Gokwe Police Station and are: Chipo Mugwati, a female aged 24, Panashe Mzizi (21), Joseph Nyambo (19), Previous Mapondo (23), Leonard Mapondo (23), Mulungisi Konde (32), Zebro Dube (25) all of Gokwe Centre.
