THE goals have been flowing freely in the 2026 Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League, with the competition reaching an impressive 476 goals after 28 rounds and the much-anticipated 500-goal mark now firmly within reach.
As the season enters its decisive phase, the statistics reflect an increasingly entertaining campaign defined by attacking football, individual brilliance and a steady stream of goals across the league.
Leading the scoring charts is Hardrock striker Washington Navaya, who has emerged as the division’s top marksman with 15 goals. One of the league’s most consistent finishers this season, Navaya remains the man to catch as the Golden Boot race intensifies.
Herentals forward Ralph Kawondera is his closest challenger on 12 goals, while Dynamos’ Frank Agyemang and Scottland veteran Khama Billiat have each scored 11 times.
Scottland have also enjoyed a productive season in front of goal, with Knowledge Musona contributing 10 goals and Walter Musona adding nine. Their efforts have ensured the club maintains a strong presence among the league’s leading scorers.
The depth of the scoring statistics, however, paints an even more compelling picture.
A significant number of players have chipped in with multiple goals this season, with the Week 28 figures showing contributors from virtually every club. From established stars to emerging talent, attacking quality has been evident throughout the league.
Hardrock’s firepower extends beyond Navaya, with Wilfred Madzunga scoring seven goals, while Sambulo Semelane, Tinashe Mashaireni and Prince Dube have also made meaningful contributions.
Bulawayo Chiefs, Caps United, Chicken Inn, Dynamos, Highlanders, MWOS, Ngezi Platinum Stars, FC Platinum, Herentals, Manica Diamonds, Simba Bhora, TelOne, Triangle and ZPC Kariba have all had players on the scoresheet, underlining the spread of attacking talent across the competition.
The figures also show that goals have not been the preserve of traditional strikers. Midfielders and players in a variety of attacking roles have made important contributions, adding another dimension to an increasingly intriguing Golden Boot contest.
With 476 goals already scored, the league now stands just 24 goals shy of the 500-goal milestone.
If the current scoring rate is maintained, that landmark could be reached sooner rather than later.
The race for the Golden Boot remains equally captivating. While Navaya has opened a useful gap at the top of the standings, several prolific scorers remain within striking distance and are capable of closing the gap before the season ends. Every goal could prove decisive, not only in the battle for individual honours but also for clubs fighting for crucial points at both ends of the table.
