THE Zimbabwe junior golf team will leave the country for the annual tri-Nations Golf Challenge set for Walvis Bay, Namibia, on Tuesday.
Zimbabwe will take on Namibia and Kenya over 72 holes.
The junior challenge intends to give an opportunity for the three nations to develop their top talent for more competitive golf at international level. Zimbabwe come into the tournament as favourites, having won the inaugural event on home soil at the Elephant Hills Hotel and Golf Resort last year.
Last year Zimbabwe won the event on 32,5, Kenya were second on 24 points while Namibia were third on 15,5.
The Zimbabwe Junior Golf Association have named a relatively strong six-man squad that will be led by the ever improving Stuart Krog. Also making the side are Mbongeni Maphosa, Jack Allard, Kiren Vincent, Justin Kersten and new entrant David Amm. ZJGA president Brian Maphosa said the players were the best junior players in the country according to the order of merit.
“These are the top six juniors in the country based on the national order of merit. They depart on Sunday.”
