Golfers meet

CLIVE Nguru’s form will once again be put to test when the nation’s amateur golfers converge at Hillside in Mutare for the gruelling Hillside Masters tournament this weekend.  The last time the golfers played in Mutare was in early June when they took part in the Manicaland Amateur Championships.
Recent events in the big amateur tournaments have shown that any one of the better golfers can take away the honours, but with action returning to more familiar territory for top amateurs, the majority of whom are based in Harare, normal service is expected to be restored this weekend.

Given their consistent performances in recent weeks, the Chapman trio of Christian Mbanga, Biggy Chibvuri and Nguru among others will be fancying their chances on the challenging course where golfers have always struggled to break par.

Nguru, who has been the hot shot this season and on his part, already has more than three titles under his belt – the Matabeleland Amateur, Bata Power and Champions of Champions.
