THE sound of golf clubs striking balls will carry a deeper meaning on Friday when Chapman Golf Club in Harare becomes a gathering point for golfers, corporates and well-wishers united by one powerful cause, giving back to Karanda Mission Hospital.
Dubbed the Karanda Mission Hospital Charity Golf Day, the initiative promises to be more than just a day on the fairways. It is an invitation to the community to swing into action and help support a hospital whose work continues to touch the lives of many.

Under the inspiring theme “Golfing for Good, Changing Lives at Karanda Mission Hospital,” the event seeks to blend sport, fellowship and philanthropy in a meaningful celebration of humanity.
For the organisers, every drive, putt and birdie on the day will carry a message that extends beyond the golf course.
The tournament has been structured to give individuals and teams an opportunity to participate, with individual entry pegged at US$50 and a team at US$200.
But the call goes beyond golfers.
Businesses and organisations are being invited to come on board through various sponsorship opportunities, including exhibition spaces, sponsored holes, gin tents and refreshments.
There will also be prizes lined up for auction, with hampers, electrical goods, tools and several other items expected to add colour and excitement to the day while helping raise funds for the worthy cause.
In an era when healthcare institutions face enormous demands, initiatives such as the Karanda Mission Hospital Charity Golf Day provide an opportunity for communities and the corporate world to play their part.
The event therefore presents a chance for golfers to enjoy their favourite sport while simultaneously helping create a positive impact at the mission hospital.
And perhaps that is the most beautiful part of the initiative, the knowledge that a day spent chasing a little white ball around the greens can ultimately help bring hope to someone in need.
As Chapman Golf Club prepares to welcome the charity drive, the message is simple and touching: play a round, make a difference and help change a life.
Friday will not be just another date on the golfing calendar. It is a date to save and a chance to golf for good. -@FungaiMuderere
