PROFESSIONAL golfers Brian Gondo and Phillip Tshuma from the Bulawayo Golf Club are the most high profile players for the PPC Charity Golf Day to be held at the Elephant Hills Golf Course in Victoria Falls tomorrow.

The 36-year old Gondo has just returned from South Africa where he took part in the Fortress Invitational in Benoni as well as the Blue Label challenge at Sun City.

A total of 76 players have registered for the annual charity event that is taking place in Victoria Falls for the second year in a row. Individual stable ford format of play will be implemented for the tournament. Mudiwa Mhazo, the best player at the 2021 PPC Charity Golf Day is not taking part this year.

In 2021, the PPC Charity Golf Day raised funds and blankets that were donated for the Victoria Falls Old People’s Home. This year, funds are being raised to buy Sanitary Pads for girls in Binga at Manjolo High School. Participants are being urged to bring sanitary pads or donate cash towards this charitable cause.

Nkosana Mapuma, the PPC Zimbabwe head of sales and marketing said: “The emphasis is about charity, we have gone back and identified a need in a different area in the same province. The objective this year is to raise funds to buy sanitary for girls at Manjolo High School, we are appealing to participants to take part in this initiative.

The focus is on the girl child and towards menstrual hygiene management that has not been given enough attention. As PPC, we want to effect change, that awareness might see other corporates also seeing a need maybe in something different but about the girl child.” — Mdawini_29
