AN EMPLOYEE of former Reserve Bank governor Gideon Gono was yesterday charged over an alleged $24,634 swindle.
Lewis Manyanga, 45, of Cherutombo suburb in Marondera, was not asked to plead to the charges when he appeared before Magistrate Tendai Mahwe.

Prosecutor Farai Gatsi alleged that between April 17 and September 8, 2013, at Gono’s Lunar Chickens head office in Harare, Manyanga was on different occasions given money amounting $24,643 to pay creditors but converted the funds to his own use.

The alleged swindle was discovered on November 2013 after a routine internal audit by the company’s finance department.
He was remanded out of custody on $100 bail. Manyanga is due back in court on June 16 for trial.
