A BULAWAYO teenager turned a quiet street into a bloody crime scene after allegedly stabbing a Good Samaritan who tried to break up a fight.

Khumbulani Nkomo (19) of Upper Rangemore appeared in court on Tuesday facing an attempted murder charge after a vicious attack that left a peacemaker hospitalised.

He stood before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Archie Wochiwunga, who remanded him out of custody to 4 August on US$30 bail, pending the release of a medical report.

As part of his bail conditions, Nkomo was ordered to stay at his given address and not interfere with State witnesses.
Prosecutor Ms Audrey Kufandikanwe told the court that the violence erupted on 6 July at around 4PM along Joshua Housing Trust Road in Upper Rangemore.

“Nkomo and Blessing Chikerema had a misunderstanding which escalated into a fistfight. The complainant, Roy Chitsungo (20), saw them fighting and tried to intervene,” she said.

But instead of backing down, Nkomo allegedly turned on the peacemaker.
He pulled out an Okapi knife and stabbed Chitsungo once on the head and once on the left cheek, leaving him bleeding and dazed.

Chitsungo was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital with serious injuries while police swooped in on Nkomo shortly after the incident.
