IN-FORM Zimbabwean professional golfer Robson Chinhoi and Stuart Krog are on the verge of making the cut at the ongoing FNB Eswatini Nkonyeni Challenge at Nkonyeni Lodge and Golf Club in Manzini.
The Zimbabwean duo carded a two-under-par and five-under-par respectively after yesterday’s pro-am in a three-day tournament that has attracted a full field.
Chinhoi is doing well in the Sunshine Tour having earned his tour card this year and was tied on position 12.
Chinhoi teed off alongside Neil Schietekat and Kyle Barker as Krog who teed off in the afternoon had Tito Timba Jnr and Franklin Manchest.
Krog on the other hand is a seasoned Sunshine Tour tournaments and this year’s FNB Eswatini Challenge has seen an increased purse in its second year.
The Sunshine Tour announced a significant increase in prize money on its schedule, with a host of tournaments, including this week’s FNB Eswatini Challenge, now featuring minimum purses of R2 million.
The prize money increase for the FNB Eswatini Challenge is a boost for a tournament only in its second year on the schedule but which has already made a significant impact to the growth of the game in Eswatini.
South African Mathew Spacey is leading the tournament with 10-under-par and will go into today’s second round leading second-placed Leon Vister by two shots.
